Cathie Craigie Praises Local School Achievement

Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP Cathie Craigie has congratulated Balmalloch Primary School and Nursery Class for their very good report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education.

The primary school scored very well in all areas of the report as did the nursery class. The report pointed out the respectful relationship between staff and the well-behaved pupils, as well as the school's progress in taking forward the Curriculum for Excellence. The leadership of the head teacher was also praised.

Cathie said:

"Both Balmalloch Primary School and Nursery Class offer a great start in life to young people in the Kilsyth area.

"I have always found the school to offer a high quality of learning to the nursery and primary school children and this was highlighted in the report.

"The children are positive about their education and the school does an excellent job in connecting different branches of learning across their curriculum.

"The school also provides an excellent service to children with additional needs and their parents, and works hard to tackle bullying when it occurs.

"This is a great achievement for the head teacher and her staff, as well as the children and their parents. I congratulate them all."
