Cathie Craigie MSP Stands up for her Constituents

Local Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP Cathie Craigie was the only Member of the Scottish Parliament to vote against the SNP Government's Budget on Wednesday.

Cathie Craigie MSP said:

"There are many reasons why I did not support this right-wing SNP budget."

"This unfair and unjust settlement will take support away from the most vulnerable people in my constituency. The Budget lacks cash for much needed respite care for families with disabled children in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. The SNP's concessions to the Tory agenda on small business are a mistake and take no account of profitability."

"The SNP has opted for a backroom deal with the Tories instead of delivering a Budget that can deliver for everyone."

"The right-wing Nationalist/Tory Budget has let down vulnerable people in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, with no extra support for families with disabled children, with less being spent on housing and regeneration, and with the SNP's rejection of a new Town Centre Renewal Fund of 26 million pounds to improve Scottish town centres."

"I make no apologies for taking this position. I voted in what I believe is in the best interests of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and the messages of support I have received since Wednesday validates this. People don't trust this SNP Government and they are right not to."

"I will bring every example of SNP cuts in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth back before the Scottish Parliament and highlight the harm this government and their Tory backers are doing to Cumbernauld and Kilsyth's future."
