Do You Know A Local NHS Hero?

Cathie Craigie MSP's office has had a tremendous response over the last few weeks with nominations for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth's choices for local NHS Heroes to celebrate the NHS's 60th anniversary.

To mark the diamond anniversary of the NHS, the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP has asked local groups and constituents to nominate someone who represents the best the NHS has to offer.

And it's still not too late to make your own nomination! All you have to do is email details to cathie.craigie.msp@scottish.parliament.uk, or telephone 01236 825 372 to request a form which can be returned FREEPOST. Once nominations close on the 16 June 2008, all the nominated local NHS Heroes, as well as everyone who has responded, will be invited to a special event in Cumbernauld to mark the NHS's 60th birthday.

Cathie Craigie MSP said:

"Even sixty years later, there's still much more to be done to ensure the NHS delivers the best and most up-to-date healthcare. But we should also take time to remember what a remarkable achievement our National Health Service is. That's why I'm asking local people to nominate their NHS Hero."

"Perhaps you know someone who works for the NHS, a doctor or nurse or support staff, who spends every day trying to make people's lives better. Maybe you have a neighbour or family member who is winning the fight against ill-health. Is there someone you know who has a special story thanks to the NHS? Or perhaps you even know someone in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth who was born on 5 July 1948, the very day the NHS started!"

"I believe what makes the NHS a remarkable achievement is how it serves every person, irrespective of means, age, gender, or occupation, equally. I hope everyone in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth can take a few moments to nominate someone who is a local NHS Hero."
