SNP Should Come Clean on Cash Claim

Local Labour MSP Cathie Craigie has called for the SNP to come clean on their claim Cumbernauld and Kilsyth is owed £12 million, after the figures were savaged by the UK Treasury.

Last week, the SNP claimed Cumbernauld and Kilsyth are owed £12 million from a £1 billion demand issued by First Minister Alex Salmond. However, the SNP suffered a major setback when Yvette Cooper, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, wrote to the First Minister knocking back every single one of his appeals, which he had only issued to the press and not the Treasury.

Cathie Craigie MSP said:

"The SNP need to come clean. People living in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth want real solutions to our economic problems, not fantasy figures dreamed up by petty politicians."

"When people living in my constituency are struggling to pay their bills, meet their mortgages and stay in work, I think they deserve a Scottish Government that's going to work hard for them, not one that just plays about with their money, jobs and homes."
