Better Blind Services "A Priority"

Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP Cathie Craigie this week helped Guide Dogs launch their campaign to improve services across Scotland for blind and partially sighted people.

Cathie is concerned that services to support people with sight loss have had little improvement in status and funding since the early 1990s. The local Labour MSP believes improving services for blind and partially sighted people in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth is "a priority".

Cathie Craigie MSP said:

"It was inspiring to attend the Guide Dogs reception in the Scottish Parliament and to hear from local blind and partially sighted people about their personal experiences about the challenges they face."

"It's deeply concerning that support is lacking for too many people with sight problems. That's why I'm delighted to support this campaign to improve these services - opportunities for greater wellbeing and independence of blind and partially sighted people in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and the whole of Scotland needs to be a priority."
