| Local Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP Cathie Craigie has urged saving all three local post offices in her submission to Post Office Ltd.
Cathie Craigie's written response is the latest local action taken to try to save the post offices in Banton, Kildrum, and Queenzieburn. Monday 1 September was the last date for responses to the Post Office's plans.
Cathie Craigie MSP said:
"I believe there is a very strong case for retaining post office branches in Banton, Kildrum, and Queenzieburn."
"For all three post offices, the walking distance and public transport links to the proposed alternatives, the effect on the local economy, alternative access to basic services, and the age, health and income levels of local people make compelling reasons for keeping post offices in Banton, Kildrum, and Queenzieburn."
"I believe pensioners, disabled people, and those on low incomes will be worst hit by these moves to close local post offices in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. The three branches earmarked for closure are arguably the only remaining lifeline for many people in these areas."
"I hope Post Office Ltd will carefully consider all responses it receives from residents in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and will rethink its proposals to close vital post office branches in my constituency."
