Castlecary Rail Disaster Memorial

Cathie Craigie MSP was honoured to attend and to make the Prayer of Dedication at last Sunday's Memorial to the Castlecary Rail Disaster.

The service saw the unveiling of a new memorial to remember those who died in the rail crash of 1968 and the rail disaster of December 1937, which claimed 35 lives when an express ran into a stationary train.

Cathie Craigie MSP said:

"It was deeply touching to attend the service to remember those who lost their lives in train accidents at Castlecary. This service was a poignant tribute to those killed and a continuing commitment to never forget the tragic loss of life which happened in our local area."

"It is also testament to years of hard work by local people to create a lasting memorial for future generations."
